As you have heard over the past year, many of the songs in this collection have been given full and sometimes elaborate arrangements. But for this song, I wanted to keep it very raw. So I asked Jane to simply sit down in front of the microphone and sing and play the song - and we would release it as is. Jane Eamon lives in Kelowna BC and is currently recording a new album of original songs. She has recorded numerous albums, won numerous songwriting awards and played many concerts. Her website is down right now, but you can google ‘Jane Eamon’ to hear more. The commentary below was written by the songwriter, Jane Eamon.
Sometimes you have to stop listening to hear. That's what Until Now is about. Not listening. Too many times folks tried to get me to believe as they did, to experience as they have done and to be part of their faith. But I always fought against it. I did not want to believe in God. It was a construct that did not sit well with me. Made me think of all the bad things religion could be. But this song came at a time I needed to stop fussing and hear. To let the voice come to me and whisper in my ear, I am here, I see you, I love you. It makes me cry writing about it. It's so personal and perhaps in its deeply personal nature, it's universal. It's my journey and my faith. It comforts me and holds me. It is my hymn to myself.
